Our client, a well established and very high quality leader in the Baked Goods industry, is again growing and now seeking an experienced and hands-on Bakery Director as an addition to staff.

Job Title: BAKERY DIRECTOR

Department: Operations

Reports to: Ownership; President/CEO (currently Ownership); COO/VP OPS (future)

Overview:

Beyond the measurable duties that this position will undertake, the person filling this position must represent himself/herself with a similar ‘Ownership’ Commitment to the Company that Generations of Ownership have exemplified.

As the Bakery Director for the Clifton Bakery, you shall be tactically and fiscally responsible and accountable for the performance and growth of all Departments within the Operations of the Clifton Bakery, inclusive, but not limited to: Baking/Production; Safety; Quality Systems; Sanitation; Demand Planning; Personnel and Production Scheduling; Warehousing; Maintenance; Specified Projects; Security.

Presence Expectations:

  • Presence in the Clifton Bakery- or at times Newark Bakery; a cumulative weekly average total of 50 hours per week, spanning 5 workdays per week on average.
  • “On the (Production) Floor” Presence a minimum 30% of the Time spent in the Bakery.
  • “Off Hour” Presence required routinely, with at least One ‘On-The-Floor’ visit per month that starts with or spans into the night hours of the Night Shift.
  • “Weekend” Presence, a minimum One ‘On-The-Floor’ visit per Bakery per month.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Be a Steward who supports and protects the Mission and Culture of our Company .

· Maintain a Safe Working Environment for all employees.

· Support highest level Food Safety Program and Culture

· Instill an On-the-Floor Continuous Improvement Culture throughout the Company that will protect the Company from Communication Challenges; Harmful Economic Compromises; Product Mediocrity; Work Ethic Complacency; etc.

· Promote and Support Training of all levels of personnel, inclusive direct training by you to those Department Heads immediately directly reporting to you; while, equally, showing those directly under you the foundations to train those directly under them; etc..

· Support the Organization Chart of our Company.

· Establish and routinely update Clear and Detailed Job Descriptions for all Personnel, whether for those who directly report to you, or for all other personnel who will work under you indirectly.

· Preside directly over those who shall report to you.

· Create Above and Beyond Growth Goals for each Department, measured with applicable and sensible Metrics, which will become consolidated into accurate and detailed Reporting, presented daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.

· Teach Department Heads to create Above and Beyond Growth Goals for the Individuals within the respective departments, which also may require some within that same department (i.e. Managers or Supervisors) to do similar for those directly under them (Supervisors and Operators).

  • Create a Platform of Walk-Throughs, Meetings, Huddles and Reviews that are efficient, informative, and preliminary for ensuing follow-up actions; you shall moderate those meetings that need direct involvement, while, whenever convenient, sit in on those other meetings that should be headed by others.

The platform of Meetings must be introduced and executed not just to Upper Management, but also to the various tiers of our management and operations.

  • Directly or indirectly, Hold Accountable all employees to meet standards, whether Company Standards regarding Conduct, or Departmental or Individual Standards specified in respective Job Descriptions, which include Presence Expectations.

  • Explore External Opportunities to enhance and/or grow our Company and its Performance, inclusive but not limited to Training; Personnel Advancement; Product Enhancement; Costs Reductions; Optimization; Automation; Digitization; Real Time Inventory; Asset Management; Personnel Recruitment.

  • Support Administration, IT, HR, Innovation, Sales, Marketing and other Departments whose governance is independent of your empowerment.

You must be a Permanent Resident of the USA or a Green Card holder.

You must have at least 15 years of experience in Automated Food Facilities preferably with some baking.
