The Axel Group is looking for a motivated and experienced Irrigation Technician to join our growing landscape team in Monmouth County, NJ. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation and low-voltage lighting systems, ensuring top performance and water efficiency across residential and commercial landscapes. You’ll collaborate with team members and clients to deliver high-quality results on time and on budget.

Responsibilities:

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain irrigation systems and low-voltage landscape lighting
• Diagnose and repair system issues; upgrade older systems as needed
• Gain expertise in two-wire and smart controller systems by working alongside senior technicians
• Interpret and work from blueprints, zone maps, and system schematics
• Prepare materials and tools before project kickoff to streamline workflow
• Oversee job sites from setup to completion, ensuring quality control
• Estimate materials, equipment, and labor required for new installations and service calls
• Coordinate with crew leads to manage daily schedules and meet deadlines
• Respond to service requests efficiently and document all work performed
• Communicate project updates with clients and internal team members
• Operate small equipment and tools safely and effectively
• Maintain a clean, organized job site and uphold safety protocols at all times

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in irrigation system installation and service
• Strong knowledge of irrigation components, smart controllers, and wiring
• Experience with outdoor lighting and basic electrical systems is a plus
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Self-starter with strong time management and organizational skills
• Great communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Comfortable using mobile apps or software for work orders and scheduling
