Here’s What Your Shift Might Look Like

  • Clock in and connect with your team lead to review the night’s priorities and assigned aisles.
  • Unload delivery trucks, organize backroom inventory, and prep stock for shelving.
  • Restock grocery shelves by category, making sure items are faced, organized, and rotated by expiration date.
  • Double-check product tags and shelf labels to ensure prices and promotions are up to date.
  • Take damaged or expired items off the shelf and let your supervisor know if something looks off.
  • Keep the aisles clean and hazard-free by breaking down boxes, clearing debris, and organizing carts or bins
  • Team up occasionally to build product displays or prep for seasonal transitions.
  • Complete end-of-shift tasks like sweeping, backstock cleanup, and inventory checks to ensure your area is ready for the day crew.
  • Stay alert to safety practices—report spills, operate equipment properly, and lift safely.

Physical & Environmental Demands

  • Frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 lbs, including boxes, crates, and merchandise.
  • Repetitive motions such as bending, reaching, squatting, twisting, and kneeling to stock shelves from floor level to overhead (shelves may range from 6 inches to over 6 feet high).
  • Standing and walking for the majority of the shift (up to 8 hours), often on hard surfaces.
  • Pushing and pulling carts, pallet jacks, or flatbed trolleys loaded with products (may require up to 20 lbs of force to initiate movement).
  • Manual dexterity for opening boxes, handling small items, and using handheld scanners or inventory tools.
  • Visual focus and attention to detail for reading labels, checking expiration dates, and ensuring accurate shelf placement.
  • Occasional use of ladders or step stools to access high shelves or storage areas.
  • Indoor retail environment with exposure to varying temperatures (e.g., coolers, stockrooms, or near loading docks).
  • Moderate noise levels from equipment, music, or store announcements.
  • Exposure to dust, cardboard, and packaging materials during stocking and unpacking.
  • Potential for slippery floors due to spills or cleaning activities—requires awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Occasional interruptions to assist with team tasks or shift priorities based on delivery schedules.
