Job Description

Our manufacturing client is expanding operations and hiring a full-time Senior Cost Engineer for their corporate office, located just 35 minutes from Cookeville, TN.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cost planning and estimating for new projects, programs, RFQs, products, and customer quotes
  • Develop and manage cost models, including materials, labor, tooling, overhead, and capital expenses
  • Analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and technical drawings to identify cost drivers
  • Support engineering changes (ECNs/ECOs) with updated cost impact analysis and re-quoting
  • Collaborate with purchasing on supplier cost data and raw material pricing trends
  • Track market indexes (steel, aluminum, plastics, labor rates) and adjust forecasts accordingly
  • Drive cost reviews with design, product engineering, and manufacturing teams
  • Present cost breakdowns and variance analyses to internal stakeholders and customers
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities and provide data to support make-vs-buy decisions
  • Manage a team of cost engineers or estimators, if applicable

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years in cost planning, cost engineering, manufacturing quoting, estimation or similar
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, BOMs, etc..
  • Experience with cost modeling, quoting software, ERP systems, and Excel
